You Want to Do WHAT to My Eye?!?

Thursday, November 11, 2010

I visited my eye doctor after an eye test and he told me he thinks I have wet macular degeneration in my left eye---there are two types of macular degeneration: wet and dry. Dry is the first kind and can eventually turn to wet. It is an eye disease whereby tiny blood vessels begin to form in the macula (back of the inside of the eye in response to the need for more oxygen. It can progress from dry to wet if these tiny blood vessels start to leak thereby causing changes such as loss of vision. *sigh*. Life is such a roller coaster.

My doctor says there is no treatment for dry which has slightly begun in my right eye, but there is a treatment for wet, which has begun in my left eye. He says the treatment is an injection. And here's the kicker: they give the injection directly into your eyeball, EEEEEEKKKK!!!!!!

OK, now that I have digested that news---there are possible side effects, such as retina detachment, infection, feeling like there is something in your eye (no kidding). I am going to seek a second opinion; the procedure is scheduled for this Tuesday afternoon and Your Prayers are APPRECIATED! I tend toward panic attacks just before going into surgical procedures also. Help me, Lord.

The good news in my life is that I am still slowly losing weight and I have a husband who loves me and is there for me. God is with me and has a plan, although I have no clue how this fits into it. We recently joined a church and they are praying for me also. So to all my Spark Friends who venture to read my blog: Thank you for braving the rapids with me and I covet your prayers {{{hugs}}}

    With all of the laser treatments available for eye diseases and surgery you'd think...maybe you'll get some other alternatives from your second opinion.

    Will most definitely say a pray for you.

    DEAR Janny, I **will** be praying for you, bless your sweet heart! It's always been a great comfort to me [I have horrible eyes, been wearing glasses since 4] that I'll have perfect eyes someday! emoticon But for now, Lord, PLEASE touch our earthly eyes. I pray that You will give abundant peace to Janny--that peace that passes all understanding. You are the Shelter and HIGH Tower that we run to, Lord, in our time of distress and need. We ask in Jesus Name, that You will do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think! Praise Your Name. emoticon DEAR SP friend!

    Ooh, that does not sound fun at all. I think a second opinion is wise even if it yields the same recommendation. Lord, give Janny your peace and wisdom as she decides what the best course of action is with her eye. Most of all, we just plead your healing power on her eye that she would not have to endure any painful procedure but experience your awesome healing power. Through whatever comes, Lord, may you be glorified through it. Amen.

    Oh my gosh, that sounds horrible! And I was feeling sorry for myself yesterday for going in for a second root canal in less that a month. Hang in there!! You really seem way too young for such a thing!!
