Had a Busy Day Organizing Yesterday

Thursday, November 11, 2010

I had the best night's sleep last night and that was a luxury as I tend to have sleeping issues, and have for years. It feels so good to feel like I'm not dragging from lack of sleep this morning.

I spent most of the day organizing my Harris Teeter bargain buys in the kitchen as well as straightening out older stock of food I had so that the older stuff could be used first so it doesn't go bad.

That on top of cleaning the house, home schooling the kids, cooking, etc. took up so much of my day and evening. Let's just say we have enough pasta and soup to last us for a very long time, LOL. I took a permanent marker and put the expiration date on all of those items so that they could be seen at a glance and that should help a lot. Yeah, I'm working on getting that organized, LOL.

I also put some things aside in bags that I plan to take with us on our vacation so that we don't have to buy a lot at the grocery stores when we get there. If the weather permits, we have decided as a family that we'd rather spend our money on fun events outside rather than on eating out at restaurants.

I'm so thrilled everyone agreed and so we will take food with us, go to a grocery store once we're there and pick up things like a roasted chicken, etc. and other refrigerated items that I am afraid to take with us as it is such a long trip and I don't want anyone getting sick if I bring too many refrigerated items with me.

My husband picked up the movie Iron Man II at Red Box yesterday (not available at our library, which is where I normally get our dvds since it's free) and we all watched that after dinner last night. I'm loving only having to pay $1 a night for a movie in the privacy of your own home.
