Yesterday was my 1,000th day on Spark People! I want to thank everyone for making this journey so great! For being such good friends and such a great support system! You all are not just my friends but my family!
What Ive accomplished in 1,000 days.....
IM 25lbs LIGHTER THAN I WAS!! Not where I want to be but not where I used to be! I have had my ups and downs during this time. Ive lost and gained. But that is something that a lot of us have done. Im still here because I refuse to give up! I will get to my goals!
I GAVE UP MY SODA ADDICTION!!! Which was a huge thing for me! When I first came here it was nothing for me to drink 6 to 8 cans of Big Red a day!!!! I still have one every once in a while but now they taste more like syrup to me!
IVE LEARNED THAT WATER IS MY FRIEND!!! Boy! Never thought I would say that! At first I hated water! Might as well been trying to make me drink toilet water it was so bad! But now my body actually craves water! And its something that I enjoy drinking. I keep a water bottle with me at all times now.
IVE LEARNED THAT THE SCALE IS ONLY A NUMBER!!! It does not define me or who I am. I take measurements, I look at how my clothes fit. The compliments I receive. Not to mention what I can do now that I couldnt do before.
I HAVE MUSCLES!!!! And some fat...lol My calves are muscle! My butt is muscle and the rest well Im working on it. A funny story about that.....My cousin walked up behind me and since I didnt know she was there, thought she would smack me on the butt! Well to her surprise instead of it hurting me, she hurt her hand! Now she calls me buns of steal! LOL
I STARTED AN AMAZING TEAM: Back in March of 2008 I started a team called Challenge + Motivation = Weight Loss. Which started out small but now has over 11,000 people on it. It has been such a joy for me to have such an amazing team with so many awesome people. I love the team. I create monthly challenges that people seem to really like and that helps people. I enjoy helping people and it also helps me! The people there are my extended family! I love my team!
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS IVE LEARNED is to never give up! Sometimes we will have rough days, and some times we will have good days! But as long as we never give up we will succeed! This is not an over night miracle! This is a ONE DAY AT A TIME thing! Sometimes we even have to take it one hour or even one minute at a time. Some days we will run through and others we will trudge or crawl through. But we must keep going! We will get there! JUST NEVER GIVE UP!!!
WE SHOULDNT BE TO HARD ON OURSELVES: Just because we make a mistake and eat that piece of cake or went over our calorie range or something else like that. Dont live in the past! Go forward, forgive yourself and move on.
TAKE EVERY SUCCESS NO MATTER HOW SMALL: If you pass on a piece of cake: success! If you drank 2 glasses of water and your not used to drinking any: success! If you only drank one soda instead of 6: success! If you got in 10 mins of exercise: success! If you didnt lose this week but didnt gain either: success! Just remember that the small things do matter! Its these small things that get us to our big goals.
MEASURING AND TRACKING ALL YOUR FOOD IS IMPORTANT! Sometimes we think we can guess at the amount of a serving but if you measure and track everything you eat you will be suprised at what an actual serving looks like and the total calories your eating.
So i have learned a lot along the way and made many new friends!
