Frustrated... annoyed.... Just don't get it!

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Okay so I've been on this journey for a while now and I am proud of what I have achieved so far. And while I know there is still a way to go, I know I will get to my goal and i will maintain my ideal weight...

So spark friends, here is the part that has me frustrated and annoyed....

On Saturday I went to my doctor for blood test results. It has been over a year since I have had them done so i was really excited to see how my cholesterol etc was. When I last had the test done I had no blood sugar issues at all. I also had okay (but not great) cholesterol readings, so I was expecting that with exercise and watching what I put in my mouth that my cholesterol would improve.

BUT NO!

Eating healthy, exercising and losing 12 kilo has lead to high sugar levels (well and truly heading towards diabetes) and high cholesterol. I have 3 months to get this under control before more blood test.

While I am not going to let this throw me of track.... I am very frustrated.

Well, I have had my whinge now.... Best i go put my big girl panties on and get over it.

Thanks for "listening" emoticon

wow it's like reading something I would write. I have cholesterol levels that are at 205 even after all the weight I lost I also have had high sugar level test in the past.
I also read about the fish oil and fish I think I'm going to try more fish in the house.
hang in there you can do this. just be paitent with yourself limit your sugar levels in coffee cereals and pop has a lot of sugar in it too. if you stop pop and coffee you should be at a much better level.
hope you get healthier this year
hugs sounds like you need one.

It's strange because my sister who is about 350lbs if not more, has perfect blood, sugar and all. No high blood pressure either. So you can never tell why things happen. I hope you find out why and get it under control

Oh my - that is disappointing! Did your doctor have any suggestions for you, such as supplements that may be helpful or dietary changes?

The blood sugar *seems* like a fairly easy one to fix because there is sugar in virtually everything! Do you drink fruit juices? They have a lot of sugar (even though it's natural sugar, it still spikes your blood sugar levels). i know someone who cut out fruit juices and it brought his glucose number down enough to where he wasn't borderline diabetic.

The cholesterol issue is mysterious - i have the same problem. The last time i had my test i was on the high end of the normal range. i've been on Shakeology for 3 months now and it's supposed to help with cholesterol, so i'll let you know if my next test comes out any better. Oatmeal is supposed to be good for lowering cholesterol.

Sorry i'm not very helpful. i do feel your pain, though.

Yes it would definitely be a disappointment especially when you've be taking care of yourself. I'm glad the Dr didn't immediately throw you on medication and that you didn't have to find out after some major medical event happened. There are so many reasons it could be off and not all just diet but you have 3 months to kick in some changes so here is my helping tip which you can start right now today and I know it helps lower both Elevated Cholesterol and Blood Sugar along with many other great benefits and it's called (Capsicum or better known as Cayenne Pepper) I hope you like spice and if not it can be taken in capsule form 2-4 capsules daily with meals. I add it to soups, salads, tea with lemon and splenda If you want additional info on the benefits of Cayenne check out "The Health Benefits of Cayenne" by John Heinerman you can get it on line or at Barnes and Noble... you can do it!

Are you eating more eggs as part of your diet? Maybe that has increased your cholesterol?

my cholestorol has come down since last year.
I added fish oil caps to my diet.
I sometimes use flax oil also. (not both as once , either or)
I also make my breakfast smoothie with soy milk thus cutting out a serve of dairy fat.
your doctor should have given you some advice on diet but then again sometimes they dont.

do u drink alot of coffee?
my friend, who weighed all of 110 lbs ringing wet, and never had problems with health issues found out she had high cholesterol and the doctor told her to cut down her coffee intake...she was a 6 or 7 cup a day drinker
i myself, have pretty normal cholesterol and i drink 2 cups a day, not saying this is your problem, but look into it and try alot of fish and fish oil and cheerios, i mean, it cant hurt
    good luck to u
