I am reflecting on the last few months over the summer when I haven't made many blog entries and realising that I usually turn to blogging when I am facing a challenge or feeling blue. I need to get into the habit of acknowledging the progress I am making and focussing on the areas of my life where I am grateful.
I am grateful that I decided to find activities that I really love doing, rather than forcing myself to go the gym and pound the treadmill etc which I find rather boring
Over the last few months I have found a fantastic Pilates class that I have been going to religiously every week - we use the reformer so it gives a great work-out that is a mix of core strength training and circuits. They guy who runs the class, Steve, always mixes it up so that we are challening new muscle groups.
I've also found a fabulous yoga class - it is kundalini yoga which was new to me and it focuses on physical and spiritual elements and has really improved my energy and amazingly has helped me reduce my pot belly - I think it must be all the active breathing exercises which help to move stagnant energy
Finally I love to dance but my husband doesn't have the greatest sense of rhythm and I don't like those classes where you get passed from partner to partner (too many gropey men!) so I was delighted to find Zumba - I just love the uplifting music and the energetic movements.
Hopefully these will be activities that I enjoy for life
