I am ALIVE, and BACK!!!

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

Hello Sparkers!

Tis me...BOGUSANNIE....yup I know, you are all about to drop from heart failure, sorry.

I have been going through a bout of rough times. Physically.

NO!!!!! I have NOT abandoned my weight loss journey and my new lifestyle. It was simply put on hold for most of October.

As far as goals met in October, I DID have several, however I also had several unmet. My health kicked the crap outta me and I am slowly trying to get back on that bike so to speak.

I was sick with an ear infection and sinus infection for a week or more, which seriously was fine. I could have done without however it didn't kill me to be down and out for a bit. I suffered through vertigo during that bout but other than that, all was OK.

I started to feel well enough to have my personal trainer back to the house last Tuesday and I had an AWESOME workout. I was a bit tired but that was to be expected after having over a week off due to the infections.

Late that evening I was chatting on the phone with my sister PLANETSPARKY when I started to feel 'off' so I hung up and went to eat a piece of toast and peanut butter. Before I even made it back upstairs I got violently ill and couldn't see or walk. I called my son's dad and told him that something was SERIOUSLY wrong with me, I was losing all feeling in my face and pain was shooting down my arm and my toes and fingers were tingling.
He told me to call 911 so I did and ended up at the hospital. The paramedics were convinced it was an anxiety attack, but I KNEW it wasn't. I have had one of those in the past and THIS was not it.

I continued to be violently ill into the morning. I had a CT Scan and a spinal tap to rule out brain aneurysm and stroke. When all was said and done the doctors figure it PROBABLY was a Basilar Artery Migraine.

NOT COOL! it mimics a stroke and is REALLY painful. I am still suffering from facial numbness. It feels like when you go to a dentist and get freezing and it NEVER wears off.

My balance is still off as is my coordination. My typing skills and focus are WAY off as well. I am back to work but seriously doing not much of anything, it's way too difficult. My hands get sore typing and I still can't feel my tongue or face.
In fact I burnt my mouth on Monday eating soup. I didn't realize it was so hot. On a positive note, I didn't feel it! LOL

So i am back...but not fully recovered. I didn't do my 8K Race on the 30th nor do I think I will be able to even attempt my 5K Race this weekend.

Very depressing I tell ya! But on a positive note...i haven't gained one ounce through it all!!!

Thanks for all your email and comments while I was away....I checked in daily just couldn't muster up any energy to vision has been horrible, and headaches and migraines plentiful!

I promise to get caught up soon!

Love you all,

Later Sparkers!

emoticon emoticon emoticon just took me an hour to write THIS blog...I am soooo slow now!

UPDATE: Nov 3 @ 2PM

I have always suffered from migraines, since I was a little girl...this felt NOTHING like any migraine I have ever had. Apparently when you suffer from them as much as I do, they end up morphing...NASTY!!!!

Oh dear! I was wondering where you had got off to! Take care and take it easy. I get migraines, but nothing like that, and nowhere near as often as in the past. That whole episode would have scared the crap out of me!

So sorry to hear of all the trouble you've had recently.

My step-dad was diagnosed with "headache-less migraines" after having this little bouts for years where he goes into a daze and gets cold sweats. It is a really scary thing to see him go through and the doctors always pointed to stress, and sometime last year came up with that headeachless migraine term. Who knows if they really know what they are talking about. We just hope it doesn't get worse or cause permenant damage.

Wishing you the best to get back to 100% soon!

OMG! I've never heard of this condition, but it sounds perfectly awful! And, like someone else who posted, I wonder if it is related to how hard you've pushed yourself and/or the sinus infection.

Pulling for you to feel normal again asap, and let's don't have this happen again, ok? Take it easy and just maintain for the time being. emoticon

    emoticon emoticon emoticon

PS. Just went to look this up online, and it is not something to be treated lightly! Sounds like your doctors were on the ball to pick it up in just one episode.

What a bad run. I would not be surprised if they are somehow related. Medicine is such a woosy field. Hope you are back to normal soon!

Oh, poor you ! I know what you went through I started suffering from migraines in 1988, at times I was violently ill even with injections of gravol & demerol. They eventually subside after a couple of days. Good luck.

that is so scary!!!! I am so glad to hear that you are on your way back. Migraines are scary business - I get them, but not like what you describe.....that is some unbelievable stuff.

Take your time running - balance is a key component of that - and you don't want to injure yourself because you were impatient (I know - easier said than done)...

Glad you are feeling better! I guess it was a tough month for a few of us but we are prooving that we are CHAMPIONS!!

Now that seriously stinks - the part about how bad off you were. What is great is that it sounds like you are slowly coming out of the worst of it.
And don't even think about doing any running right now. If your balance isn't back & you can barely type or see then how in the world do you expect to make it down the street! Crazy woman. What are you even doing at work? Trying not to be bored at home? Ok.... but I REALLY want you to get better. I've missed my BogusAnnie!
