November/December Goals

Tuesday, November 02, 2010

Holy Saint Green (yes i made that up)!!! It's the end of the year already. November and December are the last months and then it will be 2011.

Hard to believe. So, a quick look at my 2010 year goals and then I'll post my goals for the last two months.

At the beginning of the year my goals were all writing, which is good cause I haven't lost any weight or when I did I promptly gained it all back and a tiny bit more. Bad year for weight in general but could have been worse. Instead my goals were to write a first draft of a new novel, finish the mutant YA rewrite with double the word count and be ready to submit to agents by 2011. The last goal was a little unrealistic and got squished mid-year. However, during April I finished the first draft of the adult mutant novel (at 90,000 words and the longest novel I have to date). I have 14 chapters rewritten so far of the YA novel, which now has almost 30,000 words. The first draft only had almost 24,000 so I'm on track.

November Goals
Write 50,000+ words for NaNoWriMo of a new novel. That is my Epic Fantasy novel, the one I've wanted to write for over 5 years now. WIP title at the moment is Gathered at Dawn.
Weight goal is to not gain a bunch of weight.

December Goals
Finish YA rewrite (which is about 25,000 words).
Start to exercise a little and eat a bit healthier in general.

Then I'll plan my goals for 2011.

I find the amount of writing you've done (and are doing) admirable. My first obstacle in writing is myself.

It's been an iffy year for me and weight, too. I hope to do better in 2011, but would be happy to leave December 2010 at the same weight I had in January.

I did reach my major goal for the year, which was to do a serious rewrite on my vampire manuscript and send it out to a publisher. I haven't heard back from Pill Hill yet, which is probably not good. They're usually very prompt.

NaNo goal: to make some headway on the novel I tried writing 2 years ago. The idea is GREAT, but either inertia or fear is holding me back.

Good luck with your WIP. I enjoy your monthly posts because they force me to examine my own writing goals.
