Great job on your race!!!! That's an awesome time!! I've only been running for 2 1/2 years. I ran my very first step on May 28, 2008, and my first 5K in July of that year. I was 48 years old. I felt kind of weird, because everyone seemed to be fast and young, and I obviously was neither. But I've gotten much faster. Nothing I can do about the younger part :-) Now I can run faster than a LOT of people who are WAY younger than I am. Every race that I run, I always take time to encourage the people who are still racing once I am done. If it's an out & back course, I shout encouragement to them as I'm passing them on my way back. It's wonderful to see new runners, people who are out there doing what they need to do to take care of themselves. It doesn't matter how fast or slow. What matter is you're out there. This time next year you will be amazed at how your speed will improve. You will be amazed and humbled by your own abilities. I'm looking forward to reading about more of your races :-)

Congrats on 94 lbs. - that's AMAZING & INSPIRING!! Way to go with the mid-terms - WOOHOO!!!! This "new guy" sounds interesting... ;o)

My favorite piece about the marathon: "I passed people that were half my size" - YOU GO GIRLLLLL!!

I've always wanted a sibling - can I adopt yours? LOL! Sadly, I don't have any family support whatsoever with this, so I'm a tiny bit envious... hehehe...

Can't wait to hear about the Turkey Trot - I'd love to do something like that one day!

This is an awesome vlog. Very encouraging to me. My goal is to run a 5k. I'm pretty huge right now but to see someone who has lost as much as you have make it to this point really motivates me. THANKS YOU!!!!

Collecting "souvenirs" is addicting! I got my first for the ATXcellent Adventure this year. One of those scavenger hunt events, but this was adult/child. That was my first event shirt in probably 15 years and having the lanyard and the shirt really means a lot to me. It was also the first time I ran in probably 15 years. I hauled my hefty butt all around downtown Austin and I remember at the time, I didn't care about who was watching I just wanted to get me and my kiddo to the next "challenge".
    Congrats on your success!
