counting down

Yesterday's easy 3 miler was my last training run before the Half on Saturday. My primary running partner has dropped out of the race due to knee pain which is sad for both of us. Scary also, since who knows what will happen between now and Saturday. I wince everytime my big, rambunctious dog crashes into me. My other training partner, who normally wipes up the trail with all of us, is running slower now due to recuperating from an injury so I will probably run with him for at least some of the race. Glass half full. :)

Trying to plan out my strategy and really, really, have no business with a time goal on this first race, especially with recovery from sprained ankle and ongoing knee stuff. I am going to shoot for finishing under 2:30 (the time limit is 3:00). That would be an average pace of 11:27/mile. I am sticking with a 3/1 run/walk ratio.

Weather forecast is sunny and 66. I could definitely do without the sunny but am glad they aren't calling for rain.

Nervous but excited!!

How proud you must be. It takes a lot of work and dedication to prepare for a run. If you think about it, the hard part is over. You've done your homework and now, with your hard earned knowledge, you take the test. All that's left now is to pace yourself and enjoy the day. Oh, and get rid of those pesky butterflies.
