What a difference a week makes...

Thursday, October 21, 2010

So last week I sat down and poured my heart out about starting over with my weight loss journey by going to a doctor for assistance. I was nervous about starting this program because when a doctor is involved, it sounds more intense and more life threatening.

Now, 10 days later I can say it was a great choice for me!

I went back on Tuesday for my week check-in to make sure the medication was the right amount and to weigh in. It was a week and a day from the last doctor visit and I was anxious to get on the scale. I didn't get on mine at home because I wanted "the official reading" from the doctor.

I stepped on the scale and since the number was upside down, I waited for the nurse to say what I had lost or gained. "Wow, Kate! I'm so proud of you! 8.5 pounds!"

Now, I know that a lot of that is water weight, but it is such a relief to see the number get smaller. I had finally gained control of my eating and finally confident about this journey.

I am such a huge fan of my doctor because she took the time to sit down with me and review my food journal, plus we talked about my plan for the next 3 weeks. I also left with some homework to do. I am such a nerd when it comes to anything so having stuff to research and read is great, plus having a doctor explaining stuff to me makes me confident that I'm doing the right thing.

Another thing my doctor told me about was SPARKPEOPLE. I started smiling when she mentioned it because I was already one step ahead of her on that.

So I'm gonna wrap up this blog with a big THANK YOU to those of you who helped me this past week stay on track. It's a long journey that will take a while, but I'm off to a good start (again!).

Have a great Thursday!!
