Half Marathon Training - Week 3 Review

Here are my original goals for week 3 and where I ended up is in ( ):

Week 3 (Oct 11- Oct 17) goals:
RUN 10-12 miles total
(Did 19.41 miles total - about 14 of it was running plus another 2 miles on the elliptical)

Mon - Track workout. Walk, jog, sprints and stadium stairs
(Got in 3 miles and did the stairs, then home for another mile)

Tue - Yoga / run 2 miles
(no Yoga, did 2.11 miles with Rex and Jeff)

Wed - Sculptworks or other YogaWorks class - Evening 2 mile walk with Rex or GYM!
(went to Sculptworks, ran 1.5 miles at lake, then home for another mile)

Thur - Yoga - Loop from home -3 miles and a gruesome hill
(Gym workout - lifted weights, did elliptical and then home for another mile)

Fri - Gym workout of weights and elliptical
(Hike 4.2 miles - running 2 miles)

Sat - Hiking at Big Bear or day off (going up to the mountains for the the weekend)
(took the day off)

Sun - Run 5 miles up at Big Bear
(2 mile walk with Rex and then I ran 4.6 miles with Jeff - non-stop - great pace)

Evaluation of my 3rd week: After 3 weeks I am starting to see the results of my workouts and commitment. I did the same run this Sunday I did last Sunday and added a little bit in. This time I ran the entire time and was with my Hubby so my pace was a little quicker. By Mile 4, I was running quite hard and felt as if I could easily run another mile or two. This run was performed at about a 11 min/mile pace.

I continued with a good gym workout this week and got quite a few miles in running. I did a Sculptworks class on Wednesday that consisted of a ton of leg work (walking lunges, walking squats) and was VERY sore for 3 days after the class. The hike on Friday night was tough because my butt was so sore! On Sunday I cleaned the house all day long and took Rex for a 2 mile walk. I was exhausted and did not want to do my long run. I literally sat on my couch contemplating my decision. I realized that this was what happened last time I started to train - I let my life get in the way and continued to make excuses. So - yesterday, I peeled my butt off the couch, tossed the dog outside and yelled at Jeff to warm up the car! It was a great accomplishment and a huge mental hurdle was over come!

This week we are going to Las Vegas on Friday and we are in need of running 6 miles. I may do it on Thursday before I leave - so I won't EXCUSE myself out of the run! Jeff is convinced we can do it from the hotel.... yeah right. =)

My weight was horrible this week - but I am just going to toss it out the window and stay focused on my workouts. I am enjoying getting stronger and seeing the difference in my runs!

Week 4 goals:
RUN 14-15 miles total

Mon - Day Off
Tue - Yoga / run 2-3 miles
Wed - Sculptworks or other YogaWorks class - 2 mile walk with Rex or GYM with Jeff
Thur - Yoga - Loop from home -3 miles and a gruesome hill (may be long run)
Fri - OFF - traveling to Vegas
Sat - Try for a gym workout if possible in Vegas. If not - day off.
Sun - Run 6 miles in Vegas. May do Thursday night so I make sure I get the run in.
