Biking in Liberty State Park

Yesterday we took a break around lunch time, hopped on our bikes and biked over into the park. The weather was totally gorgeous. I have never been to see the Statue of Liberty up close, though we live in a neighborhood where you can see her every day. Since the park has a walkway that goes along the water, this was the closest I've ever been to the statue. Pretty cool! We were also able to find the nature center in the center of the park ... its just been a point of curiosity. The most time I've really spent here has been for concerts or for the Fourth of July and then its usually so crowded... you don't really get a sense of how nice and green it is there!
This is my bike: its a silly little beach cruiser I bought for the beach house but we haven't brought it down there yet because I can't afford a nice hybrid bike right now. Its a comfortable ride and it fits my tall frame just right (probably because its a Man's bike) so that's all that matters. I can't wait to get a "real" bike someday with gears and hand brakes and an easier way of getting up hills. In the meantime, this bike is fine and its cute because I added a basket. :D
Afterward, I checked my GoWearFit arm band and realized we really were just kind of slowly cycling around. I barely clocked any moderate exercise so I made sure to hit the gym last night and get in a round of treadmill cardio for good measure. I spied on a hip hop class I think I'll join next week because it looked really fun in there!!
I'm feeling good and I'm not letting my recent mood swings deter me from the larger goal. I just want to keep on feeling good -- give my body the right mix of nutrition without going crazy and over-controling everything. Portion control actually makes sense if you let it work for you. Once I start fighting against it because its too much work-- or if I feel too controlled, that's when I start feeling bad for myself. Must focus on the positive.
