Today I did some guided meditation on Deepak Chopra's site, which I found when I joined the Meditation and Weight loss group here on Sparkpeople. To release the pent up emotions, (due to some pretty intense arguments with my boyfriend) the guided session recommended it was a good idea to do something to physically release blockage that was in the body...so I think that a nice walk outside will help, as today the sun is shining beautifully, and there's just a nice brisk breeze out. So it just goes to show, healing what is going on in the mind and heart can move a person to exercise! Right now I can hear the windchimes jingling on my porch, and it just makes me smile as I write this.
Also, I read an intriguing article in my Yoga Journal magazine, called "Branching Out" by Sally Kempton in the wisdom section. The article mentions a quote by Ram Dass: "If you think you are enlightened, go visit your family". Sally Kempton writes about how appreciating and being patient with family members will put you on a better path to self-awareness. Much of the time finding those similarities between yourself and family members will increase compassion and acceptance, and help to heal old wounds or estranged relationships. I hope I did not phrase that in an overly simplistic manner; the article was very interesting and intriguing-engaging with much depth and insight.
A few lighter notes:
I am lucky to have the day off! There are so many connections I am making through Sparkpeople, and there are so many resources that are here to help create a more holistic way of living.
Avocados and grapes are on sale at the store! Yay!
A friend of mine once told me, "you really are easily amused, aren't you?" To which I laughed and thought it was a great compliment.
I love the jump-rope workout from Sparkpeople on youtube, so I think that I'll do that after my walk.
What are some helpful things, be they articles, recipes, books, tv episodes, etc. have you guys found recently to help with weight loss/life goals? Or, just something you came across in your day to encourage you?
Thanks for any comments!
I am sending out thoughts and a prayer of peace and love and thinking warmly of Spark members as a whole.
In health and happiness.
