22 days until my first half marathon!!

My foot/ankle situation is pretty much resolved, but the jump back into running has aggravated my knees. Not too terrible, but enough that I am icing a lot and making sure to get the rest in. We will not be able to stick to our original training plan that included a long run of 12-13 miles in training, but do hope to get to 11. Even if we only make 10 in training, though, most training plans say that the excitement of the race itself is enough to get us through the last 3.

We are using Jeff Galloway's run/walk system and are still playing with our interval times. For our speed, Galloway would have us running 3 minutes and walking 1 (and maybe even shorter running intervals, but this is the shortest I can handle!). If it weren't for the injuries and our short time frame between now and the race, I would think this ratio was completely nuts. We may go with 5/1 on race day but have eased back in with 3/1. I ran without my gymboss timer and just walked whenever I felt like it on Tuesday (which wasn't very much) and my knees are still complaining today. Crazy as it sounds, this method does seem to work!

I waffle each day from total confidence to complete freakout about whether we can do this. Then I worry about the weather. Gotta just keep reminding myself that...
1. I can definitely finish this bad boy and
2. a little cold/rain whatever won't kill me
