Back on my feet

Friday, October 01, 2010

I am happy to report that my foot feels MUCH better after a bunch of trips to the chiropractor (so thankful a friend suggested it.... traditional medicine wasn't getting me anywhere so I figured, what the heck? ...and it really has helped).

I have only been doing short runs on the treadmill (3-3.5 miles, every other day) but I think I will be ready to be on the trail on Sunday. My "long" run will not be very long but I think I will be able to build back up quickly if I take it easy. Still planning on runnin my first half marathon at the end of this month!!

Our original training plan (pre-injury) was to work up to a 13 mile training run before the race, but now we are planning on getting up to 11. Plenty of training plans don't have you run the full distance until race day, so I think we will be fine. We are doing walk/run intervals, which will also make the distance more manageable.

My major mental change is that I have tossed out my time goal. We are just planning to finish this race, and will work on a time goal for the next one!
