Things that make you go hmmm....Or, Now I Know

OK, today's story. Baby and I went into town to grab a couple things at Wal-Mart. On the way I called Papa to see if we could come visit. He said yes, but to meet him at Ruby Tuesday's because a co-worker is retiring and it's his last-day luncheon. So we do that. Once there, we decide to eat with him as both Baby and I are feeling hungry. So I look over the menu and decide to order something I've never had before: Parmesan Shrimp Pasta. The good news: It tasted really good. I enjoyed it. The bad news: I just looked up the nutritional information...1050 calories, 57 g of fat. I could have just had a Whopper! Don't get me wrong; I did not think I was ordering light. I was still surprised, however, at how high it is. On the other hand, I did quite well at the salad bar. I splurged on a little favorite blue cheese dressing, but passed on the cottage cheese, ham, egg, and pasta which usually really rack up the calories.
Needless to say, I'm a little over on calories and fat today (and 1 gram under for protein, go figure), but yesterday I was under, so I guess it all evens out. Still, eating out is really tricky, no? It's so easy to get tempted into things, and you're not in control of portion sizes. Yes, yes, I know they recommend you box half right at the beginning. I have yet to try that. I think, maybe, I could handle it if I never saw the other half of the food, if they only brought out half on the plate. Otherwise, I think I would sometimes feel deprived. Anyway, that's today's little tale.
**Oh, and one more thing. We ate the natural hot dogs tonight. I REALLY like them. The taste is different, but GOOD. Problem is they tasted so good I ate two and wanted to go back for a third. (sigh)
