Am I Losing my Spark?

Well, yes and no.

I'm still very much sticking to all the things I've been doing since day one--striving for balance, working out, eating well and in an apporpriate calorie range. I have no inclination to change these things even in the slightest. My weight loss has slowed significantly, but I have less than 15 pounds I'd like to lose at this point--I think that's pretty much to be expected. Incidentally, I now weigh what I weighed the day I got married, and I'm only about 5 pounds away from my weight in my senior year of high school!

But I've just found myself less present here on the spark site lately! It's not personal--I love all my sparkfriends to bits and pieces--but my focus has shifted a little this past month and I'm finding myself with less to say. What's good about this is that those healthy routines feel... well, pretty routine. There's not that much I feel I want to say about them right now! :-)

I'm happy to report that I'm LOVING swimming and am even pretty decent at it--learning a lot in a short amount of time. I'm also happy to report that I'm back to doing a tiny bit of running--a mile or two here or there--and my knee, while not 100%, is doing pretty well handling that. I love the routine I have at the gym and have met a lot of really great people there. Good stuff! I also like being at work again and am comfortable with working towards balance with work, workouts, and life.

But, other than that there's just not a lot for me to say. :-)

I'm still here, sparkfriends. My recent peace is leaving me with less to say, and I'm going to roll with that for now. I know the time will come again when there's more to reflect on. In the meantime, I'll still be here listening to what YOU'VE got to say. Keep at it, all!

    I guess I am going to say what just about everyone else has said to you, LOL.

    While I not quite as near my goal as you are I am beginning to notice that I have a life now. I run, I have more energy, Joan and I do more stuff and I don't spend as much time here as I did three months ago. I think it's called a new life and if it is what you are experiencing then Spark has succeeded in its mission. It has taught you new habits and new ideas.

    When I first joined Spark I had two friends here who reached their goals and they sort of drifted off and I really missed them and I was really peeved that they left. Time heals I guess while I still miss them I'm not peeved. They got what they came here for.

    I have always been a major fan of yours because of how you approach life and the journey you are on and because you always make me think.

    Reading your blog was a bittersweet moment for me. I'm happy for you but like looking into a crystal ball I know what's going to happen one day.

    You have come a long way from the person I first read about a year ago. This is a great thing. You have accomplished so much this past year in getting yourself balanced an getting your food and exercise together. You should be very proud of yourself. I know I am proud to call you friend.     glad to hear things are falling into place, love that u are enjoying swimming, are able to do some running again, and that the balancing of work into your sched is challenging you, and u are succeeding, which is rewarding in itself :) i am with ya, down to about the last 19 to lose, not concerned with how fast it comes off as much as maintaining and enjoying that my 'routine' is now livin fit and healthy, woo!!

    Sounds like you have some type of balance with your life. Priority is key and right now those are working, exercise and your personal relationships. But really, sometimes there just isn't anything to say. I dig it! I'm glad to read this blog. You sound at peace

    This blog actually says a lot. It means you are getting on with your life and weight is no longer the big focus. You have developed good habits and you are sticking with them. That is awesome!

    Less to say as time goes on seems to be the norm with this process, as well as less time to spend on the site. I guess it's like raising kids...if you do it right , they get to the point of needing you less and less, though they still care about you, hopefully, and check in with you. As we find balance and health, we find a fuller life, and a full life takes time!! Just blog every month or so so we know how you're doing and post any good pictures!! Glad you are enjoying the swimming... that's something you can do all your life that is kind to your joints. Nice you've also met people at the gym... that will become another fitness community for you, like Spark. So, no, I wouldn't say you've lost your Spark at all, in fact your Spark is burning so brightly it is attracting all sorts of good things into your life.

    There does seem to be less to say as you figure it out and there are less ah-ha moments. Just doing your thing.

    I realized a few days ago-it really is a formula of calories, exercise, water....you know the drill. Get it right and balanced and it all works. I don't write as regularly as others or I use to, but I read around the site to see how others are doing. Every time I read a blog I see how other people are doing and learn a little bit more.

    I know you are comfortable with your routines but try switching them up a little bit. When you keep to the same routines, your body adapts and weight loss is slow. If you add a little here or change a little there, maybe it will help you. Keep sparking and everything will work out! Good luck with your goals! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
