Lungs are overrated, anyway.

Monday, September 27, 2010

Last week I got sick. Really, really, horribly stupidly stubbornly sick. Sick enough I went to the doctor, and I don't do that unless it's REALLY REALLY bad.

So last week was kind of a joke as far as exercise goes. And when I'm sick, I give myself license to eat what sounds good.

Stupid, I know, but I do.

Example: One night's dinner was a bowl of cereal followed by an Oreo Blizzard.

Yeah, brilliant choices, eh?

Anyway, to get to the rest of my story, first a backgrounder.

I got a Roku XR (GREATEST INVENTION EVER!) (http://www.roku.com/) and so have become obsessed with Netflix again. And while poking around, I realized there are some streaming fitness DVDs, so I added them to my Instant Queue to watch via Roku. And then I got sick and forgot about them.

So Sunday I decided I was feeling better and I should get some exercise, but it was raining and cold so I didn't want to walk around the neighborhood and I was still coughing so I didn't want to go to the gym and have people stare at me like I have the Plague, so I decided to do this kickboxing DVD via Netflix via Roku.

Yeah, 25 minutes into it I nearly passed out. Know how instructors are always on you to breathe right?

Turns out it's really important.

LOL

So I quit. Baby steps. It's still raining but the coughing is getting better day by day and maybe tomorrow I will go to the gym and walk ... carefully ... on the treadmill.

    Hope you're feeling better.

I had to take a look at the blog when I saw the title. I agree about lungs being over-rated...I go to this Boot Camp class once a week...they say its to help us with strength and cardio...but it's my guess that they really hate people with internal organs. Heh.

    Anyway...again, hope you're feeling better.

Glad that you are feeling better. Nothing is worse than being sick- you just want what you want, when you want it and you won't feel better until you get it. Good job about taking the first steps to exercising after feeling sick- just be careful not to overdo it!
