    an interesting quote - my motivation depends on what is happening at any one particular time - but it is definietly better when I have a challenge like the 5% one to do as well as having support from fellow sparkers!!

    I think the motivation to do something is always there it is just sometimes not as bold and in our face as our procrastination, laziness, doubt, and fear can be so we can be fooled into thinking that it is not there. It is when we can stand on the faith that it is there and do what that I believe this quote is meaning that we give our motivation the voice it was always capable of having. Thanks for sharing this quote it was great to ponder over. I wish you a great rest of the weekend and a productive week ahead.

    OK folks, first the disclaimer, this is written by a retired Army elite teams member, so you KNOW that I am HARD CORE to the extreme.
    I agree with the original poster, if you need someone to constantly blow sunshine in your face, then the weight loss won't last, even if you make it.
    You MUST find your OWN REASONS for doing this, NO ONE can do it for you. When the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona KILLED my thyroid by sticking a titanium rod in my leg, in an operation that I didn't need, just to demonstrate the proceedure to a bunch of interns, and I went from a 28 inch waist, and 180 pounds, to a 44 inch waist and 265 pounds in a little over SIX WEEKS, I could have finished their job for them, had a pity party, and died of a stroke or coronary in a month, but I DIDN'T. I fought a "delaying action" for three months, till they found out that, they HAD, in fact killed my thyroid, and they put me on Synthyroid for the rest of my life. At that time,I could have given up, and said that it didn't matter any more and shot up to four or five hundred pounds, but I DIDN'T.
    I didn't have anyone blowing sunshine in my face, I put a photo of a C-130 flying overhead, with a bunch of my Brothers and Sisters jumping out of it on EVERY door in the house. THAT reminded me of WHO I WAS, and I took care of the rest.
    I now am a little bit LIGHTER that I was before they stuck the metal in my leg, and a WHOLE LOT TOUGHER. I sing Airborne Cadence songs when I work out, and I may have been on this planet for sixty years, but I'M NINETEEN, AND BULLETPROOF.
    I did this fighting a supposed "unbeatable condition" so YOU can do it ALSO. ALL that you need is to WANT TO DEFEAT YOUR ENEMY. STAND IN THE DOOR !!!!! Brie

    I think there are times that's true, but it sounds a bit too much like a blunt, "pick yourself up by your bootstraps and pull it together." Sometimes we need that, but sometimes that's a cruel kick in the face to someone who needs something else.

    Something to think about though. And things that make us stop and think are good. I know one of my obstacles is that I keep putting things off until I feel better - but I rarely feel better. Hmmm....
