Wow - first of all I can't believe how long it's been since I wrote a blog. My last blog was in February and I remember how happy I was to run 25 minutes straight.
Since then lots has happened. I dropped down to 137 before my wedding. I didn't reach my ultimate goal of 130 but I was very happy with the weight I did reach since my original goal was 140 by that date. I don't have professional pictures yet but as soon as I get them I will post on here. So far I have some great pictures from my friends.
Immediately after the wedding I got sick (I guess it was all the hugging etc) and had to put my workouts on hold. I gained a few pounds back (I'm back to 140-141). I signed up for a 5k and started the run again. I was getting worried about the race because I was in much better running shape before the wedding. My amazing husband helped me overcome my nerves. He signed up with me and practiced with me.
This past Sunday I ran my first offical 5k. My goal was to run the entire time and to try and be under 35 minutes. Eric kept me from running to fast in the beginning and motivated me to give it a little more towards the end. The last part of the course was a big hill before you rounded a corner and ran back downhill to the finish line. The hill was tough but it felt amazing to run high speed down the hill at the end!
I did it! I RAN!
I looked at my watch afterwards but forgot what time I started so I wasn't sure of my time. Given my speed I thought I definately made my goal.
After the race Eric and I walked back to our cars. There was also a half & full marathon going on so we followed the course so we could cheer the other runners on. They were amazing!! I was feeling great and proud of my self until one of the runners smiled at me and yelled....."WAY TO GO MOM TO BE".
I was stunned.
At first I thought he was talking to someone behind me so I just smiled...
Then I looked back. There was no one else there!
Turns out my race number was buckling out which made me look...ahem...with child. It definately took the wind out of my sails a little bit but I know I would have taken it a lot worse had I not just lost over 25 pounds this last year.
Later that night I got my race results.....41 minutes.
I was pretty darn disapointed considering I had did many practice 5k runs in much less time and this was a flatter course.
I found out this morning that I guess the organizers accidently made the race too long...I ran 7k!!! I'm so glad I didn't know ahead of time or else I don't think I would have known I could do that!
I'm pretty sore today but I definately think I got the running bug. Who knows maybe there's a 10k in my future!
