To DwD, or not to DWD

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

It has been over three years since I joined the leadership of the Dealing with Depression SparkTeam. To say that things have changed a lot in that time period is a huge understatement.
The team membership is well over 600,000 now, and rapidly climbing toward 700,000. When I joined I think that we numbered just a few thousand, and that seemed impressive at the time!
First Bob (POPEYETHETURTLE), then I (BLACKCOSMOCAT, DWDMOTHERHEN), and now Pam (WORKINGOUTWITHPAM) have had the role of Senior Moderator. When I joined the leadership consisted of only Bob and I, but now there are numerous leaders and former leaders who have served the team well. Volunteers all, they are an outstanding group of people, and I am proud and pleased to be in their company.
Maybe it has been a midlife crisis. Maybe it is simply the season for something new. Maybe it is destiny, but I have begun to pursue the writing career that I have dreamed of all my life, and that means it is time for me to leave my position as co-moderator with DwD.
I will pop in from time to time, but in order to give my aspirations a real chance, I need to concentrate more on writing pieces for publication. I have sold my first two pieces, which is an encouraging start, but I still have a long way to go.
Please check out my blogs to see some of what I am up to these days!

I would not have had the courage to set out on this adventure without the support of so many of you who have encouraged me and sent appreciate notes about my posts. Thank you so much for being my friends!
It is time for Mother Hen to spread her wings -- let's hope she can get off the ground!
My best wishes and fondest regards to you all,
Jodi

Jodi - growth has its painful moments even while we are flying high. I will miss your thought provoking responses on the boards. I learned a lot from you and was challenged to do my own growing. Wishing you well on this new foray into immortality. Your written words will always speak well of you. You will be missed on the DWD leaders team.
