Back From the Grocery Store
Sunday, September 12, 2010
It was that time again. The pantry was getting pretty bare around here, and we were out of produce. Ugh. I hate grocery shopping on the weekend. Not only is it super crowded since people have to buy food for school and work this week (definitely one of the perks for homeschooling. Don't have to do that.), but they have those "evil" smiling ladies in the aprons standing next to their little tables with their electric griddles trying to get you to just have a taste of whatever smell was wafting through the aisles. Try this sausage, try this pasta, here take a coupon.
Well, I made sure that I had lunch first. My husband had homework due tonight, so he stayed home with the kiddos. Thanks Honey! I drove to an actual grocery store. Typically it's Walmart for us, since that's what is here and convenient, but I drove the 40 minutes to a Grocery Store only. No clothes, toys, or lawn and garden to distract me from the task at hand. lol I planned a menu for the next 2 weeks already, so I had a list and I was armed with my coupons and ready to go.
I took my time, got everything I needed, a few extras, and lots of fresh produce. Best part was the only sample lady was one that was giving lean cuisine chicken fettuccine alfredo. Of course, I wasn't hungry, but it certainly wasn't tempting. I've had it, have a few in my freezer as a matter of fact, and thankfully it wasn't bacon. lol This girl will always stop for a slice of bacon. Some are beckoned by chocolate. Me? Nope, say it with bacon.
