First solo hike at First Creek Canyon (seemed fitting)
Sunday, September 12, 2010
I set off on my first solo hike with optimism and excitement. I hiked First Creek Canyon in the Red Rock Canyon just outside Las Vegas, NV. I had hiked a smaller portion of it with my family the day before. And so, my hike begins.
As I was hiking along I noticed a furry friend looking at me.
He's sooo cute, unfortunately they move too quickly and I usually only get a glimse of them. My hike is going well, I'm moving much more swiftly without my children and husband. I want to get to the mouth of the canyon.
I find it so interesting that there are so many different types of rocks in one area.
Including this one that looked like the perfect photo op6
As I continued on my journey I happened upon a few unique
and unexpected things.
I don't know why but I never thought I'd see cattails out here. As I got to the mouth of the canyon
I decided to look for a place to relax before I turned around to head home. And lo and behold, the perfect spot showed up.
I relaxed here for about a half an hour and basked in the glory of nature. On the way out I took a picture of surrounding landscapes.
I saw lots of vegetation that I had never seen before and I saw one lone flower, but of course, the picture didn't come out.
All in all, my first solo hike went well and was quite theraputic.
Check in again for details of my next hike.
