Cheating the Spark

I have been a part of SparkPeople for almost two years. I can't say enough good things about this site and this community. When I first started, I was a little overwhelmed. I didn't have a lot of weight to lose. I was primarily looking for tracking tools.

So, for a long time, that's pretty much all I used on Spark. I faithfully would log my fitness minutes and usually my nutrition. After a few months, I joined a couple of teams, but I rarely commented. I was more of a lurker and a tracker.

However, within the last couple of months, I have been blogging more regularly, commenting on other members' blogs, and am even co-leader of a SparkTeam.

Wow! This has totally changed my perception of the Spark!!! I was cheating myself of the Spark and cheating others as well. There is a wealth of support out there for anyone to tap into and use for inspiration!

Guess what??? When you offer encouraging words to others, they offer them right back!!!

I still use the trackers, but I spend some time reading and commenting on members' blogs, I update my status, and I post more on my Teams' pages. It has opened up an entirely new world of Spark to me!!!

If you aren't tapped into this tremendous positive force of inspiration on the Spark, I strongly encourage you to try it! No, it doesn't have to be as consuming (or personal) as Facebook.

Just read and few blogs and post a couple of "thumbs up" emoticons on them. I can guarantee you that those little symbols will mean so much to the author! And you might even get a Spark Goodie or similar reply yourself!!!

Don't cheat the Spark!!! Spread it any way you can!!!

    That is so true!I spend alot of my days doing this.It helps me to feel great!I know how i feel to get these compliments and goodies.I see alot of members that don't even have a compliment on there page.I always comment and usually give a goodie ,just to help modivate and give a smile to someone who could really use it. emoticon

    It really does make a difference when you use SP to its' full potential. Interacting with others can make a bad day better and a good day great! Being able to match your interests with so many different teams means there is something for everyone.

    Yes, Sparks members blogs are very inspirational and motivating. I love the opportunity to offer support to others as well, and really enjoy reading blogs. I also try to keep up with my friend feed so that I know what is going on in the lives of the people I have added as friends.
