Well, Now That's Out of My System...

Back to the skinny grindstone!

Yesterday was a real energy-suck and after a day of breaking the news of my break-up to people, I gave into my wallowing and self-indulgence for a few cleansing hours (yes, a bottle of champagne and brownies can be cleansing every now and again). Today I woke up with the sunrise and am ready to take on all the challenges ahead. I even want to brainstorm some new challenges-- something to jumpstart my fitness/weightloss and really push me and my goals ahead during these first couple months sans boyfriend. So step one-- get the wallowing, energy-suck out of my system. Check! Step two-- create new goals. Step three-- create a plan. It's going to be a tough road ahead, but having a clearer idea what path it is I want to take will make the stress to come a lot more bearable.

Now here is something healthy that I'm looking forward to-- non-food indulgences. So the brownies have come and gone and instead of comforting myself with food, I'm going to treat myself by doing some things alone that Josh wasn't really keen on. First stop, going to the zoo! I'm bringing my running gear and after work I'm going to take the train to the start of the lakefront path and then run the five and a half miles to the zoo, have a nice time alone looking at monkeys, and then head back. What should tomorrow's healthy treat be?

    I reward myself sometimes with a book, and in trying to save money, I get most of them from the library. I'm trying not just to keep my rewards away from unhealthy foods but food in general. I'm hoping that by doing so that I stop associating food with rewards and emotional states. The zoo sounds nice. Have fun!

    That sounds fantastic! I love the zoo! Although the last time I went, the monkeys were.... ahem... you know... It was ridiculous, and super awkward for all the parents bahaha. I hope you have a wonderful time! (And I hope the monkeys behave for you... :) )

    Sounds like you've got a plan to move forward. All you need to do is implement it and do it. Realize that in the long run you'll be fine. Doing something for yourself--getting healthy and fit--can be therapeutic, and beneficial. You can do it, for YOU.
