Breaking the Cycle

As I was looking at my notebook that I recorded my weight in over the last couple years or so, I saw a pattern I never realized before. My wieght always fluctuates a few pounds; I start the year out at the high end after the holidays, then get busy and lose a few pounds over the next month or two and hold steady through spring and summer, fluctuating a little but then I lose a few more pounds and get to a lower number in the fall, only to put it all back on over the fall and holiday months. I finally realized the reason for the fall weight loss is all the wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables that are available. They fill me up so I'm satisfied and not wanting sweets and snacks. The weight seems to come off by itself. If I could continue that pattern, I could keep losing instead of gaining it all back. So I need to find a way to stick with the healthy diet. It makes such a difference!
1. I need to realize I don't have to do so much holiday baking and continue to eat regular meals.
2. I need to find healthy fresh produce that fits my budget and cook creatively, learning how to fix new foods if necessary.
3. I will continue the exercise program my PT designs for me.
4. I will concentrate on the good I have accomplished and acknowledge the power to get off the path I've been on, being willing to forge a new one.
Now that I know what's going on, I have the power to change the cycle and make the necessary adjustments. Writing things down can be very helpful and I'm glad I kept track of all those weigh-ins.Even the wieght gains can be helpful if you learn from them.
