Food Blog #2
Another Morningstar Farms diddy...

Once again, I LOVE Morningstar Farms veggie products. And I'm not even vegetarian... ha, ha... go figure.

So since 2009, MF has been adding onto their product line like crazy. Their newest endeavor has been frozen dinners. "Interesting," I thougt to myself at the grocery store. So I bought two "frozen entree" varieties on one of Publix's "Buy one get one free" specials. Sweet N Sour Chik'n and the Lasagna w/ Sausage Style Crumbles.

I tried the Sweet N Sour Chik'n earlier this week. Check out my previous blog for that one.

Today was all about the Lasagna w/ Sausage Style Crumbles. Now this is the one I was waiting for. Brought it for a quick lunch fix at work. Saving the "hopeful" best for last, you know?

Nutrition values. Not at all bad. Cals-270, Total Fat-6g, Carbs-41g, Protein-20, Sodium-590. Plus good addition of your daily veggies. Perfect as a full meal.

I open up the package, and I just love how Morningstar really provides a solid amount of food. Plenty to fill the tummy, you know? And I see veggies all over the place. Excellent.

So I pop it in the microwave and heat it up per the instructions. When I took it out, it was a little soft and pale, so I put it back in the microwave for another minute or so as I prefer my lasagna well cooked. This time out comes some sort of yummy masterpiece all perfectly browned and bubbly. Granted it doesn't look that pretty, but it sure smells great!

Veggies are a-plenty and pop up really nicely. Carrots and spinach all over the place. I scraped all the flavors onto a fork and took a bite.

And YUMM-eeeeee....

Noodles are perfect. Ricotta cheese and tomato sauce taste completely fresh. And the sausage style crumbs really taste like sausage! I was quite surprised. I prefer beef (or beef flavored) lasagnas, but this was a nice tang to the traditional flavor. Now granted, I didn't SEE the crumbles...(lol), but I did taste them. Another thing I really liked about it was that I didn't taste massive amounts of salt. It was just enough without being bland.

Overall, I would have to say this is a total winner. Tastes fresh and all the flavors are nicely proportional. I sopped up every last crumb and ounce of sauce from that plate... (lol) Nothing was left!

Very, very good. I will being buying one of these again soon. I still like prefer the traditional beef lasagnas (veggie or meat). But again, these are really good too.

So that's it for this edition. Again, I highly, highly recommend Morningstar Farms stuff. They're more expensive than they're meat counterparts, but honestly, they are worth it.

Other good Morningstar Farms hot picks include:

Italian Herb Chik Patties
Maple Flavored Breakfast Patties
Hot and Spicy Breakfast Patties
Veggie CornDogs
BBQ Riblets
...AND...
Spicy Black Bean Patties (the absolute best veggie creation on the planet!!!)

Yum.

Here's to happy, healthy eating... Bless. emoticon emoticon

OMG, I LOVE the spicy black bean burgers! The grocery store by me doesn't carry them, so when I make my special Fairway run (to Red Hook) I stock up.

I'll have to check my store for these meals. One thing I really miss about Florida is Publix.

I have been eating morning star products for a couple of years now. You're right, it's all GOOD!!!!
Have you tried the morning star "Grillers Original"? It's a perfect substitute for beef burgers. Also, the Morning Star Bacon Strips are AWESOME! It's made with egg white, and taste just like real bacon. I'm on the Morning Star Band wagon with you. Let's keep Morning Staring it!!!!!

That looks really great! I didn't know they'd come out with those! Which - there isn't a Publix here and I've not seen any in Wal-mart/Target/Food Lion. I may go to Trader Joe's this weekend but I don't know if they'd have them there.

I have tried the burgers and they are awesome! I am not a fan of the grilled chicken though. My sister is part-time vegetarian so she eats a lot of that stuff.

Sounds delicious! The sodium is a bit much for me since I am trying to cut back on it. Maybe I could do half with a slice of honey wheat bread w/butter. Now that makes it a meal.

God bless & thanks for sharing!

Mmmmm! That looks great and I didn't realize that they made frozen meals. Good to know. I like their soy crumbles and the riblets the best. I'm not wild about the ch*kn products.

Nice find; thanks for the review!
