I LOVE MY BED! lol

Haven't blogged in a while. I'm very excited though. Last weekend, I spent was so much fun. My husband and I have been looking at bedroom furniture for a very long time. While there have been things that we liked, there hasn't been much that we either both liked enough to buy, or were willing enough to shell out the money on. About 2 weeks ago, I stumbled on a website that was created by a woman living in Alaska. She creates furniture plans that are based off of expensive furniture. My husband and I found a bed that was perfect for us. Alot of people have built it with much success, so we were excited to try it for ourselves. For less than $200 for wood, screws, and paint, we built a bed based off of a $1300 bed from Pottery Barn. It took 2 1/2 days of working in a hot garage, but I count it toward my exercise. lol It was definitely more physically intensive than my typical day. Can't tell you how many heavy boards I picked up and moved around, held in place, etc. It was a lot of fun. It's solid as a rock. No particle board whatsoever on this thing. And here's the result.
So, while I wasn't necessarily doing my traditional (okay, semi-non-existent) workouts, I think doing this in a hot garage should at least count for something. And I found a new hobby. Furniture making, who'd have thunk it??? lol Now we are excited for our next project. We are looking at making some matching nightstands, and our 3 year old's new twin sized bed.
Now, onto other things. Someone quit at my husband's power plant, so he's been put back on rotating shift. He took a promotion last year this time, and it put him on a regular M-F schedule, but they need him to fill in for the one that quit for the time being. While I'm not happy that he's on rotating shifts, it really does enable me to get some things done. So much of my day is spent homeschooling, etc, so by him working the nights, I'll be able to get a lot done, especially since it's not great to try and run a vacuum while he's sleeping in the morning. I'm much more motivated in the evening anyway. So, my goals for this week are to get caught up on the laundry around here (Got behind spending all that time in the garage lol), do a couple of miles each night on my gazelle, and tackle my dreaded closet. I want to get rid of the clothes that are too big for me before fall so I can see what I need to buy this year in smaller sizes! :)
Just in case you want to check out the website where I found the plans for my bed. Here it is.
