BLC - Day Two: Body Prep, Ugh
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
Day Two has gone sooo much better than day one! It feels great to be getting back to the habits I had last year (while having a personal trainer) - I totally miss how second-nature it was back then. But, it will be again!
The most challenging part of my day today was the exercise portion. All I did today was a quick warm up on the treadmill, then I did stretches, self-myofascial release exercises (with foam roller), and a few physical therapy exercises. Sounded simple enough, right? WRONG!
I was so surprised at how painful the self-myofascial release exercises were, and how stiff I was during stretches! How far my poor body has deteriorated since I was personal training! It explains a lot though - I am stiff in day to day life lately, so getting back to stretching, etc, will definitely get my body loosened up again.
My focus for exercise for the next couple weeks is what I've posted above. While I was personal training last year, I hurt my knees (I pushed myself a wee bit too hard, not my trainers fault! He was wonderful!). My legs - especially my left one - are a bit messed up because I pronate (my feet lean out and go flat when I walk), sooo my knees take all the brunt of every exercise. So instead of going all out with my exercise, I'm taking it slow and giving my legs the proper amount of preparation so I don't injure myself when I start doing more cardio and strength conditioning.
But today was a great day! I love this Spark People thing - it helps so much! Thanks to everyone who commented on my blog yesterday - it was so encouraging!
Go Terrible Twos!!
