State Fair

Monday, August 30, 2010

Things are going well. I'm making healthy decisions while keeping my goals in mind, and I'm not feeling discouraged. Yet. I realize that coming from a family with a history of both extreme obesity and diabetes (not to mention heart disease and a host of other things) I need to take control of my health and develop healthier habits now, while I'm still relatively young. I've been doing an adequate job tracking my food. I only took one day off this week to go to the State Fair. Even though everything I ate at the fair was deep fried, I didn't eat too much of it, and I certainly didn't go overboard. I find that I'm not really craving "bad" foods. Maybe that's a sign that I'm finally ready to do this.

This week, my goal is to start working out consistently either at the gym or at home. I don't always have time/feel like going to the gym, so I bought the EA Active for my Wii. I hope to do that on days when I don't make it to the gym but should be working out. The fewer opportunities for excuses I have, the better I'll do.

I'm only down about .6 so far, but right now, I'm more concerned about developing healthy habits. I've lost the same 5 -7 pounds quite a few times, so I think it might take a little bit to kick start my metabolism. Here's to another week!
