Motivation or a kick in the pants?

So, I have been trying to figure out a way to balance things, not "work too hard" so I am not exhausted, and so I can deal with the things I need to in addition to the things I want to. Really, though, I only have to work, work out, shower, sleep, and eat. The unemployed folks here should do the rest, right? So...here is what I read: "...We don’t want you to be comfortable; we want you to BE COMFORTABLE AT BEING UNCOMFORTABLE, as the military says “embracing the suck”. Life should not be all about convenience and ease, for convenience and ease = weakness and laziness. Life sometimes is a square kick in the teeth. Exposing yourself to this hardship and by continually overcoming new challenges let’s you know your resilience and toughness. To quote Zach Even-Esh, “we don’t fear the pain, instead we chase it” and because we chase it we become stronger, tougher, and more confident.
