Search Before You Sip!

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Last night, hubby and I took a long walk with our son in the stroller. We like to do that at night the few days a week that we can (we have opposite work schedules), because in this part of Texas in August the only time it's sane to walk outside is if it's between sunset and early morning or if it's cloudy.

At any rate, we stopped by Sonic while we were out to get a treat. I had some calories left over for the day and got a real fruit Strawberry Creamslush. I happily downed my treat and then came home to search and log the calories. FOUR HUNDRED CALORIES FOR 14 OUNCES???!?! Are you kidding me??!?!?!

Well, at least I got over 15,000 steps yesterday and I only ended up about 100 calories over my limit. And, I learned a very valuable lesson. Something that looks like a healthier option than some may in fact be the worst choice. Always be informed!

Just my musings of the day. :)

I am with you. Lattes, coffees, smoothies are just to calorie expensive for me. My down fall the blizzards some have over 1000 calories.

Be careful with most drinks - like smoothies etc - lots of calories

That happens to me too - usually with cookies. Even those oatmeal raisin 'health' cookies can be hiding 400 cal. Still, I don't think it's bad to have a treat on occasion. ^_^ Good job on all the walking.
