Help Me!!! I'm addicted to the 4 B's.......

........Bread, Butter, Bacon and Brownies!

Try as I might to find and eat the healthier alternatives of the aforementioned, they just are not the same. I've done the 'Smart Balance', 'Butter Buds', 'I Can't Believe its not Butter' and none of them do it for me. I have to have my one pat of REAL Butter a day!

And I've eaten whole wheat bread for as long as I can remember, but let there be hot homemade bread or rolls served and I suddenly develop short term memory loss as to how many servings I've consumed!

And then there is Bacon; I could incorporate bacon into every meal of the day if I knew it would not kill me or make me any fatter!!! All it takes to set me off in a salivating frenzy is to smell the aroma of it cooking in one of the homes on my morning walk with the dog and I am like that silly dog in the "Beggin' Strips" commercial!! Yes, the logical thing would be just to not have it in the fridge; I do enjoy Canadian Bacon, but it does not give off the same smell when it is cooking! (Don't even try to convince me that Turkey Bacon tastes the same, because I also tried it and wasn't fooled!)

Which leads me to the fourth B: Brownies!!!!! I have a personal recipe for Brownies that taste out of this world! I've named them "Miss Anne's Oh My Gosh Brownies" because that's what everyone says when they eat them..."Oh my gosh these brownies are awesome"! I am always asked to bring my Brownies to any Pot Luck Dinner or Luncheon I attend. My daughter's friends request them, even the ones who live out of town. Of course it is not fair to the family for me to make them for others but not for them. I've cut back on the number of times I make my brownies each month, and try to only eat a small piece when they are around the house, but that is also so hard to do because they taste so GOOD!!!

So I guess the only solution is total abstinence of these diet no-no's! Life is going to taste so boring without my 4 B's.

    DIL has been experimenting with homemade goodies for Thanksgiving. The girl with the perfect figure sends them to me. I froze most of them to take to Thanksgiving, but 'Oh My Gosh" the truffles and peanut butter bars are to die for. Which I really don't want to do so have been cutting off one inch squares daily and limit my portion to one at lunch and one at dinner. But man oh man it is hard to stop.

    I know what you mean, I just have to avoid a lot too, because if I start, I dont want to stop... :-) Maybe limit yourself to one day a month to indulge in the B's!

    Good luck! I find I do better just with the having a small bit of what I love though I'm the same way about bread. Restaurant bread is like crack to me, lol. Anytime I tell myself I can't have something, my brain goes off the deep end and next thing you know full binge time.
    On a side note, now I'm dying for brownies. lol.

    I'm with you on the butter. I don't eat much of it, but I want the real deal.

    As for bacon, I do not allow it in the house. My husband likes to have it for breakfast, but I say that's why God made I-Hop.

    And brownies - don't even want to go there, but I will share a tip from my daughter. She bakes them in muffin tins and says that it helps her control how much she eats. It might work for you.

    I just made brownies with Splenda for the sugar, apples sauce for the oil, black beans pureed with spinach for the water, and they're amazing. Make them into twelve muffins, put one Dove dark chocolate square in each to melt when it's cooling, have one for breakfast for six days, and give away twelve. Drink with milk, and be able to indulge in brownies daily guilt free. Add a piece of bacon precooked and crumbled to a salad or a sandwich each lunch or dinner, or have a piece of bacon for dessert after your full and satisfied by a healthy meal for lunch and dinner, and you can have bacon and brownies everyday guilt free. The brownie will be less than 150 calories and the bacon will be 60 calories. Have one piece of white bread with a teaspoon of butter for your snacks, with a piece of fruit or a serving of veggies. I bet you can have your four bs and be healthy and happy after all! : )
