Bright Light

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Five years ago I had LASIK surgery done. I thought about it and researched it for 2 years before deciding to have it done. It was the best decision I made and I don't regret it. I went from being blind as a bat to having 20/15 in both eyes. When I read I wear a pair of dollor store glasses (1.5 magnification).

Well, today I had my check up and things are still looking great. My vision is still 20/15. The only problem is that I had to get my eyes dialated. It is now 5 hours later and the light is no longer so bright. I forgot my sunglasses when I went into the office and boy was it fun trying to find my car when I came out. Walking with my hand over my eyes, just barely opening my eyes and looking down at the pavement the whole time. I would take quick glances up to orient myself then quickly cover up again. Thankfully I have a pair of really dark sunglasses in my car for really bright days, boy was it a relief to put them on.

What I dislike the most about getting my eyes dialated is that I can't read. The letters are too blurry to make out. So since I couldn't read and it was bright upstairs I went down in the basement and did my workout. Now I can curl up with a book.

Good for you. I have a friend who had it done many years ago and spent a lot of $$ for it but she too has been happy with the results. Have a great night!

It's interesting to hear what you think about the surgery. I have some friends who have had it done and it seems like they either love it or hate it - no in-betweens.
