Why Is It Okay To Hurt Someones' Feelings?

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Some time back, my ex-daughter-in-law posted on Facebook that I should buy my husband a bushel of corn. Do I know he's overweight? Of course I do; we both are. It was so hurtful. This man is the most loving person I know and treats me like gold.

I have stgruggled for the last 2 or 3 months; using my heart arrhythmia for part of my problem, just plain not feeling good, and maybe...just maybe leaning on that age thing. I think it is time to go to the crossroads:

I have to decide, for me, if I'm going to be in the game or sit on the sidelines.

I got my shirt ready. I'm ready.

Every morning I take me time; we live on a beautiful lake as some of you know. I get up, weigh if it is weigh day, pour my coffee, and head out to the screen porch to watch the finches and the hummingbirds. What a life....but it will be an even better life if I felt better....50# from here.

I'm sorry someone said hurtful things to you and your wonderful husband. This must be part of the reason she's your EX-daughter-in-law?

Try to put this behind you and out of your mind. Realize that she must be a very unhappy person to try to spread her misery on nice folks like you all.

The world is full of ignorant people who feel better about themselves, when they can put someone else down. It's called leveling. I would be a millionaire if I had a nickel for every put down I've heard about my weight (from loved ones, no less). We are stronger than that. Health, Exercise, and taking better care of eachother is your focus now. Everything else is meaningless.

You know the answer, of is never ok to hurt someone else's feelings. It is bad enough when it is unintentional, but this was just mean. I hope you and your sweet husband can just put it behind you.

I don't even understand what that means, buy him a bushel of corn? You seem to have a happy life and nasty is just plain nasty. I'm sorry she hurt your feelings. I have a guy that treats me like gold too and if he wanted I would buy him 3 bushels of corn, whatever that means.

It's sad when people say hurtful things, espcially in such a public forum.

I think you are a great looking couple!! And you can't beat being treated like gold.
