Another Day & I'm not sure about this love for Jillian anymore

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

A few things to share with you today.
First--I always try to make it my goal to listen to a "get up and go" song everyday. Sometimes they are typical. Upbeat. Powerful. Easy to boogie to.

Today I had something a little different.

I am one of those people who could cry to a good song. I'm not talkin Taylor Swift or Shania Twain love song. I'm talking about the pure music. Listening to the notes speak to you. Filling your soul with musical power.

Another Day by The Album Leaf is my song of the morning.
Here is a link for it on YouTube

I just drove on the winding road to work. The car filling with soul. It was magical, I tell you.

Second,
I did the Yoga Meltdown last night.

Um.... yeah....

I was able to do some poses... mainly the balance/standing poses. My legs are much stronger than my arms. Probably because they are used to carrying around this large body.

It was harder than I thought it would be, but glad that Jillian wasn't yelling. I did get annoyed when she kept on loudly pushing out the breath.
I felt kind of bad because I couldn't hold some of the poses for 15 seconds. I could picture Jillian next to me yelling at me for quitting on them. It helped me to try much harder to hold them later in the video.

All in all it was good, I was sweating just as bad as I do during 30 minutes of cardio. However when I put it into the fitness tracker, I was a bit surprised to see it only burned 155 calories? Really? Oh well. Looks like on nights that I do that I should probably go for a jog too.

Third,
I'm super excited because my birthday is next Tuesday. I think Bryan and I decided what we are going to do. This Sat we are going to go out for sushi(uh... YUM!). At first it was just going to be us, but I think I'm going to invite some friends... it will be nice to have a little celebration. I've already looked up some healthier options that I would still find yummy. Pretty much anything that's not tempura or filled with mayo. Yay for birthdays!

jillian scares me!i think she's terrifying, so kudos to you for at least getting through the video! Also, congrats on planning your B-Day meal so soon in advance -- that shows your dedication, and I'm sure thinking about that meal all week will make it yummier when the time rolls around! Happy early birthday!! :)

I DO NOT use SP's Yoga setting for yoga meltdown. I would use Ladies Circuit Training. I used my heart rate monitor when I did it and it said around 300 calories. That's much more like it! And I totally can't do the upper body strength poses either! The key to yoga is working your way up to it! YOu can't do it all right away. I think that's why a lot of people give up on it. Just keep working at it!!!

And I know what you mean about purely instrumental music. It can be so much more emotional that anything with lyrics!

Yaaaaaay Happy early Birthday! Don't feel bad about not being able to do all of the poses...Yoga is HARD and it works you out just as hard. I'm surprised about the calories burned, sometimes I'm not sure how accurate SP is...but anyway glad that you tried it out! I really like the Album Leaf and I'm excited to listen to that soooong when I get home :) Have a great day girl!
