Injuries are depressing

Monday, August 09, 2010

A week ago today I injured myself while exercising. The Dr. thinks I have micro tears in the meniscus of my left knee. I've been in a brace and on crutches for a week now...I thought by now I'd be able to walk without the crutches but still with the brace for support. Unfortunately, my positive thinking just isn't panning out. I'm still in pain when not jacked up on ibuprofen. I refused pain meds at the time and some moments I'm thinking I definitely need them. I havn't been able to do much but R.I.C.E for the last week and it's pretty depressing. I miss my workouts, I miss being even remotely active. I honestly thought I'd be back on both feet by now and it just isn't reality and I'm now really feeling down and depressed about it.
I havn't been able to fix decent meals, run errands, etc...

I know I need to take it a day at a time and not push it so I will heal, but I just feel like crying.

I'm so sorry sister. I hope your knee starts feeling better soon and I'm glad you went back to the doctor.

Injuries can be one of the worst hurdles to overcome. I hope yours passes soon so that you can move forward again & rejoin the rest of us 'sweat meisters'. ;) To me, it seems fitness & sports injuries go hand in hand. Can't have one without the other yet don't understand why that is. Have you given any thought to doing some upper body, or free weight exercises while your knee heels? Maybe that'd help you to keep busy while your knee mends itself & help to curb the frustrations that come with waiting.

Wishing you all the best.. emoticon emoticon
