DQ Has Made My Summer!

Friday, August 06, 2010

While watching TV the other day, I saw an ad for a mini-blizzard at Dairy Queen.

Can this be true? Oh please, I thought, please, oh please, let this be true.

In case you haven't guessed I am a soft-serve ice cream fanatic. If there is one food that I will absolutely never give up, especially in the summertime, it would be my soft-serve ice cream. My first recollection of really being a soft-serve ice cream addict goes back over 30 years!! But I digress.

I love theTurtle Pecan Cluster Blizzard. However, it comes in at a whopping 700 calories for the small. Some of you may be able to buy a small and stop half way through. Not me! I am sure I could devour a large without blinking an eye. Most of the small blizzards that I like seem to be around 600 calories or greater for the small.

I get soft-serve ice cream about 4-5 times a week. It is usually a kid size cone with chocolate jimmies and that gives me my fix for the day. But occasionally, I want and need a more substantial fix and that is when I want a blizzard. As of yesterday, I have only had one all summer because 700 calories is almost half of my daily calories. But now they have the mini!!!!!! I was out running errands last night, stopped by DQ and enjoyed every last bite of my mini-blizzard. I asked the employee if the nutritional data was available and he showed me a copy. I'm sure the employees thought I was nuts because I was just raving about how excited I was. I don't think I shut up the entire time I was ordering. If you are not a soft-serve ice cream freak as I am, you will have no comprehension of my jubilation. If you are, then you are smiling and laughing as you read this!
