I am back again, after a "hiatus," shall we say. A detour. A side-street. The "long-cut."

After much procrastinating, I have decided that I can't let myself wallow in a sea of flubber. I have a wedding coming up (February or March) - in Florida. My niece's wedding. I have a daughter who will probably get married in about 3 years or so. Do I want to be the "Fat Mom" or the "Fat Aunt." emphatically, NO!!! I don't. And the only way to get to there from here, is to work my tail off.

I broke down and joined a group from our hospital, a weight-management group, called "Enlighten." We meet once/week - exercise, have support group, and have access to a dietitian, nurse practitioner, and personal trainers. We are required to journal daily, and be faithful in exercising and attending the meetings.

I did great for about 3 wks, then got discouraged, and let myself sort of "fall back" into not going, old habits. Thank goodness for the director of the program, she called me and emailed me, and get me back into the swing of things. I'm very grateful to her for "bugging" me, as she would call it. Otherwise, I would be back doing the same things I always have done, and get the same results I always have gotten.

My goal is to get to the rec center at least 4 x a week. Difficult, as the rec center is an hour away from me. Plus I work nights, which makes it doubly hard. But I've decided the only way I'm going to do this, is to go in before I go to work, which means I have to leave here by 3:20pm. I'm there by 4:30, get my workout in, and still have time to shower and get to work. Makes for a long night at work,but...at least I'm getting my exercise portion in.

What I need to do next is get my eating under control. Clean up my eating habits. Get a little more healthy. We were on a mini-vacation last w/e in Indiana, met up with a bunch of friends Sat & Sun - ate good-for-you-delicious-food all weekend. And lost 1.6 lbs! It can be done!! I'm trying to pack good food to take to work, at the very least. Fruit, yogurt, nuts, a Subway sandwich.
