First day back with the trainer!

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

I've done training a few times before and always ended up not really getting much out of it. Well I bought some training sessions to help me get through my 90 day challenge at the gym which I was supposed to get weighed for today. There was some confusion with the head office and stuff so it got canceled. I'm now getting weighed on saturday. Anyway, the training, I decided i will be doing 2 30 minute sessions each week followed by cardio to make up my 60 minutes for each day. Today I was with my new trainer for the firs time after being off for a few months and seriously slacking in my other activities as well. My new trainer is 19 years old!!! I'm 23, I wasn't expecting a younger trainer lol. He was nice and of course very encouraging. He worked my butt off lol, I was only with him for half an hour and he really killed me lol. We even did a few things I've never done before, and I've at least tried many things. I felt very self conscious at first but after the first bit I was just trying to keep breathing lol.

The gym is very intimidating to me. That's why I like my current gym, not usually very busy lol. He did I was doing great, but he is supposed to encourage me, and he seemed genuinely surprised at my strength. I did tell him I was strong but they're always surprised lol, and my cardio sucks. I was breathing heavy the entire time and i got dizzy at one point. That was my fault though, I went straight from work and didn't have dinner so next time I will make sure to take a good snack to have on my way there. Just something to give me a bit of energy. The only thing I really didn't like doing was the lunges, but everyone I've ever talked to hates lunges, even some of my past trainers lol. He was very helpful, unfortunately with the exercises too lol. He helped me get my legs up farther for the leg lifts and a few things like that, just using his hands to make sure I don't give up and what not. I only say unfortunately because I still have the whole touching issue lol, it's not as bad as it was before though. I was able to deal with it and a year ago, before the dancing, I wouldn't have let him. Especially this one exercise where he was touching my sides to make sure my obliques were working lol. I actually do think we`ll get along and that he has the right personality to keep me working hard. Though him being so young is a little weird lol, maybe that`s just me but I`ll get used to it.

So I have my weigh in on saturday, though I`m not going to wait until then to start eating healthy, I`ll start with my plan in the morning as i intended. I`m still going to chug water before my weigh in though lol. I see my trainer again next tuesday and then I will be training 2 x per week, this week wasn`t good for us though. He said he is just sorting out stuff at his old job, last couple weeks and all that, and then I will probably be training tuesdays and fridays. I walked into the gym feeling crappy about this challenge, and now I`m feeling good about it again. My mood is up and down right now and probably will be for the first while until I start seeing some results on the scale, which I will see!!!!

My legs feel like rubber lol, and I`m expecting pain tomorrow emoticon a good pain though lol.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!!!

GREAT!! I think it is SO brave when people get trainers! Probably something i should look into.. although im not sure my financial issues will allow it!

Dont be nervous about his age, If you can tell he knows what he is doing, and you trust him... then maybe having him be younger is more of an advantage, you might get along REALLY well!

Keep going! You have a great thing goin for ya! Lots of support from the team, you have a great reward to look forward to if you win this challenge, and also.. think of how great you will look, and more importantly FEEL while going through this experience!! :D keep in touch!

FoxyRoxy, You CAN do it! I have faith in you! What is the whole touching thing you keep refering too? Is it that you don't like to be touched? Some Aspies I know feel that way. You can definitely work to desensitize yourself so it is more tolerated.

emoticon Great to hear you have gone back to a trainer! YOU CAN DO IT!!
You might find that while he is young he is eager to show his new employers success and being a new job and all he should be very energetic and wonderful with his clients...A great combination if you ask me!

Stick with it and you will do well! Glad to hear that you are eating well again too. Once again a winning combination. Keep up the amazing work!
