Fat Smash Detox and Being Back On The Wagon

Monday, August 02, 2010

I haven't written a blog here in a LONG time. Mainly because I blog elsewhere , but I thought I'd update this blog since this update is strictly about my health and fitness.

Many of you don't know this but I am on a LONG journey. I have had issues with my teeth for most of my life, and I finally decided this past April to take control of my health and do something about it.

It will not be easy like just filling some cavities, I need MAJOR jaw surgery for SEVERE TMJ.

The process goes like this:

Most people have their wisdom teeth removed, then get braces put on, then wear the braces for a year or longer, then have their jaws broken, wired and plated into a new position, and wired shut. Then they wear the braces for another year or longer to fine tune their bite.

I had my wisdom teeth removed in April, and got braces on almost a month ago. In about 11 months I will have my jaws broken and wired shut for 8 weeks, then continue to wear the braces for a year or two and then I have to have some bridges fixed and a few implants.

When I made the decision back in April to go through with the surgery I knew that it would mean I would have to quit smoking for good, and I would have to get in good physical condition before surgery in order to have a better time healing.

I have been smoke free for 34 days as of today.

The past week I have lost 6 pounds.

I feel both exhilarated and scared to death. Exhilarated because I finally am getting somewhere, and scared to death that I will fail yet again.

I took on a Fat Smash 9 Day Detox today.

Basically you eat NO meat, no bread, no potatoes, and no avocado.

You can have all the fruits and veggies you want.

No caffeine, no coffee, no sodas, even diet.

Up to 2 cups a day of low fat or fat free milk.

Up to 2 cups a day of brown rice.

You can have beans, tofu, and the like.

You can have up to 2 six ounce servings of low fat yogurt a day and up to one cup of oatmeal per day. You can also have 4 egg whites a day, and up to 2 cups of herbal tea per day.

Today was the first morning in a LONG time I didn't start my day with coffee.

I thought I would be miserable all day but surprisingly I got quite a jolt enough from my cardio so it didn't really matter.

I have eaten really well all day and I feel pretty good that I can get through nine days of this, and maybe even take it longer since it's not that hard.

It will be really awesome if it helps to get rid of my sugar cravings! (I have a terrible sweet tooth!)

Anyways, there's my update. I have such a long way to go but i wake up every single day determined to take the steps I need to take to get there!
