Last Wednesday, DH and I went to San Diego for the USTSA Baseball World Series. My nephew plays for the Rawling Rebels in the 13U age group. My sister’s family came down from Washington state for the tournament. By Saturday, we were wondering if he was ever going to get to play. We didn’t know whether they would play Sunday or not, but they did because they won enough of their games, and knocked out the fifth-seeded Arizona team. Tension was high on Friday and Saturday. Parents were fighting with the umps, coaches were getting thrown out of the park, and my sister was practically in tears because it broke her heart to see her son warming up the bench. But the Rebels were playing with heart and soul. Finally, coach put my nephew in to start the championship game. He is a pitcher. At one point, the bases were loaded and my sister was nervous. The team huddled around the pitcher and gave him a pep talk. Then it was 1-2-3 strikes in a row and the inning was over. Whew!!! He pitched the whole game...they won 8-1, and he was the HERO. It had a very happy ending.
All of the kids got rings…we didn’t know they would get rings…and won the silver. It was a great week of baseball. I loved getting to know the kids and the parents (from the outside). We had a great time!!! We even got to go to The Padres games Friday night.
This morning, I walked outside and out of the corner of my eye I could see something moving…I looked and came eye-to-eye with the mother…CAT…and three adorable, playful kittens. I love cats and who doesn’t think kittens are the cutest thing ever??????? My DH is highly allergic. And they were on "his" side of the yard...LOL. I knew we had some feral cats out here…I’ve seen one black-and-white one…but what is it about our yard? Mothers choose our yard to have their young. Rabbits, birds, lizards…LOL. My oldest sister called our yard a bird aviary. My DH called it a bird sanctuary. I just call it Wild Kingdom…LOL.
I grabbed my camera and turned it on…batteries needed changing…I tried four other sets of batteries…all dead. GRRRR. They had all been charged up before we left and I never used my camera on our trip. My brother-in-law is a professional photographer...so why bother?
The mother cat disappeared; I don’t know where she went. The kittens were playing fiercely. They finally noticed me and then they hid behind the BBQ. I told my DH what I had found and that we shouldn’t have a mouse problem at all…LOL. He wasn’t too happy. My first instinct was to go buy some cat food…oh, I would be in so much trouble for even THINKING such a thing.
Fitness-wise, well, we did a lot of walking…and a lot of sitting…and we split meals, but I did eat french fries…I don’t ever choose them, but I ate them because they were in front of me. I will not weigh myself until I’ve had a few good workouts…LOL. Good thing I am scheduled to teach Zumba Gold today.
Our neighbors have a place in Chula Vista that they rent out, but they keep the studio apartment upstairs for themselves…in order to get out of the heat for 3-4 days every week in the summertime. They were kind enough to let us use it. I could not get Internet there, so I have to start over on my streak of spinning the wheel. Oh, well. Now I will have to play catch-up on Spark.
