Glutton for Punishment....

Monday, August 02, 2010

All right, so I like to set my goals high, this is true, but what the heck was I thinking when I signed up for 4 CONSECUTIVE HOURS of WALKING??????

The facility that I work at has a Relay for Life team, which has had difficulty rounding up participants in the past, so I volunteered. At first, just for 1 shift...then the team coordinator talked me into a second, as they were middle of the night shifts and very difficult to fill....then I talked to the team leader, who convinced me to do another one....and then on a WHIM, I signed up for the 4th hour!

I know I can do it...but I still wonder if I'm just too nice, or just lack the ability to say no sometimes....

*Sigh* I think I better book myself a massage afterwards, or my legs might just fall off...

First of all, congratulations on taking a risk! Yes, four hours sounds like a lot, but I know you can do it. We'll all be here cheering for you!

How soon is the relay? Do you have a week or two to train? You'll probably find it a bit easier if you build up to it, increasing the length of your walks in stages. Also gives you to break in new walking shoes if you need to! (Seriously, make sure you've got good shoes. Bad or worn out shoes = soreness all over!)

And if you're going to be 'too nice', I certainly think you can include yourself and book that massage! You deserve it!
