Dietican Visit #3

Last Tuesday was my 3rd visit to the dietican. I had some good news and some not so good news. The good news was that my bloods sugar readings had settled down to very good levels on the new eating program with limited carbs. My Vitamin A levels are back to normal so I now can take over the counter Vitamin A supplement.

The not so good news was that I didn't lose any weight over the past 4 weeks. She gave me some tips on how to keep from over in dulging at meal times. Which has been a little bit of a problem when I am stressed. Mainly they were common sense things I should have thought of myself. Then again if I don't always use common sense otherwise I wouldn't be as big as I am.

The 3 things she said for me to remember are. One make sure I eat something in the morning. She told me it didn't have to be much. I sometimes have trouble eating breakfast cause I am not hungry. So now on those days I normally fix me a piece of toast with peanut butter or a piece of fruit. Number 2 eat slowly during the meal. I don't know about anyone else but this one is tougher than it sounds. With as much that goes on at my house, it seems like we are always running to go somewhere an eating on the run. To manage this problem I have actually scheduled our meals since DH and I are both retired it is easier for us to do this than for most folks. The 3rd thing is for me to remember to have some kind of protein snack just before bedtime. This is to help keep my blood sugar down in the mornings when I first get up. For bedtime snack I either have a tsp of peanut butter or a 1/2 of english muffin with a slice of cheese on it.

I am hoping to have better results in 4 weeks when I go to see the dietican for the last time.

    I think that initially, it's more important to regulate blood sugar and nutrients in your body than to lose weight. Once you're comfortable with the new foods, etc, then you can work on portions. It sounds like you're doing very well!

    Sounds like you're having GREAT results. Weight loss is only a small part of what you're trying to do. Learn how to maintain your health, and then you can embrace weight loss when it comes (and it will) as a happy side effect of taking care of yourself.
