Errand Day

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

It was hot and humid but not too bad as it was cloudy off and on which kept the temps down.

Today was shopping and errand day. I had to go to the post office, newspaper office, State Farm, the bank, Aldis, Wal-Mart, Kroger, and the meat market.

The Farmer's Market was open but I don't need any produce. We have tons and we just picked the peaches. I kind of wanted to stop but it would have been stupid. I had everything they were selling except for Amish bakery goods which I absolutely do not need. But I love produce. My counter tops are covered and I will have to fire up the spare dorm fridge soon. I don't want to have to start up the spare freezers yet either.

The cardinals are molting right now and they look hideous. Like tiny buzzards. LOL.

We have more hummers than we have ever had. 6 at the feeder at one time. Fighting. Eating. Buzzing.

Speaking of buzzards, there was a dead deer about a half mile away being eaten by buzzards and I hope it's not one of ours. Unfortunately being that close it probably is.

Everything is blooming ahead of schedule this year. The Stargazer Lilies bloomed a month early and my hardy amaryllis did today. I picked another bouquet of Stargazers today. My hostas are blooming and my impatiens look great. The cicadas and bull frogs are really noisy already and they usually wait until August.

We have an Amish market in a town close by, it is always so much fun to go. I love to get a big bouquet of flowers there, so pretty with gladiolas and sun flowers and stuff. Great move, resisting the baked goods. What do you do with all your surplus produce? Do you put up jars (canning) or do you seal it in freezer bags?

Sounds like a good productive day. Sorry to here about the deer. What could have happened? I love hummingbirds and you seem to have a swarm. I could watch them all day. So another thing I have cause to be jealous of. Good job on your steps and your cals. Take care.

It must of been an errand day.. I did fine got it all done and still was able to fix a healthy dinner... I wish I had a cook then I would never have to wonder whats for dinner tonight... hubby is no help and son just says food when I ask for input.. Casserole are easy but fattening. So its chicken most nights.
I hope it wasn't one of your deer.... We went up the river a few months ago and the house we went to there was a full grown deer with a collar on... it was the strangest thing I had ever seen she came up and ate out of my hand and I was able to give her a hug.. she had gotten hurt in a wild fire several years ago and was nursed back to life and the people made a pet out of her... They were lucky she is tame she was just a baby when this all happened and she's has adjusted just fine.. she actually only has the collar on so no one will hunt her and she has full freedom but hangs around the property.. I hope you are having an awesome day...

I was very disturbed by the massive numbes of dead deer on the roadside during our recent drive to N.J.

Sounds like things (produce and fruit) is in abundance for you right now. We only planted tomatoes and cucumbers. Our cucumbers are numerous but still waiting for the tomatoes to ripen. When they do, we will definitely have a counter full as there are lots.

Take care and do have a Wonderful Wednesday.

I know that all creatures have their own purpose (even fleas ...), but do buzzards really have to be so repulsive? What a cruel joke on Mother Nature's part!

I love your blog! I know what it's like in wanting to stop. Being me, I probably would have stop just to get out and look around but when one is pressed for time it's not always conveinent. I love farmer's market. We have 3 around town but our store, Weis, generally carries and sells the local produce so it's very rare that I do stop at the farmer's market.

However, we do have a very good bakery in town and I will buy a loaf of dark safflower seed bread. That is so good! No preservatives in it & so I keep that in the frig for that reason. Otherwise it gets moldy fast.

The heat wave finally broke on Sunday with a storm that passed through and it was nice for our first VBS last night. Breezy and beautiful, thank goodness!

Keep up the good work with your steps! You are doing awesome! emoticon emoticon
