Well, the definition could not be any simpler...
inertia |iˈnər sh ə|
1 a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged : the bureaucratic inertia of government.
2 Physics a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force. See also moment of inertia . --- Funny that it ends with that, that is what I had :)

I can relate to what you are saying and often find myself trying to overcome that as well. I think it's great that you are so open and honest about what you are feeling, I think one issue I deal with, is often not expressing what I am feeling and therefore NOT getting any help or feedback on that issue. When more people know what someone is going through the greater the chances are that someone will have an idea that works to you, to help you past it. I guess my thought is, that your posting your feelings and asking for any input is a great idea and I think in doing so you did take a step, therefore no longer remaining in a state of inertia. I wish I had some great idea or advice to offer on this subject, but as I said, it is something I myself struggle with. But I'm sure some of the great members here on SparkPeople will have some great advice.

All the best to you! emoticon

Thank *you* for being transparent with both your struggles and successes. It helps to know we're not alone. And trust me - we *all* go through it.

"A tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged" is a state of mind. Eventually we all get into this state and sit in a "slump" for a few days, but, "This too shall pass."

It will pass! You have a goal with Toastmasters to achieve a certain position within the organization, right? That's a tendency to do something, instead of nothing, and to be changed, instead of unchanged! See?

Your inertia is only temporary and is your current state of mind. Soon your mind will decide to move forward and the feeling of inertia will take a hike!

When you need that external force, here we are!

Congrats on your speeches and good luck with your future ones!!

Another great idea and thought for us to really think about!
Makes total sense, and I think anyone can relate this to their everyday journey or struggle. Thanks!

I haven't worked out in the last two I feel like if I don't go, I will never move again. I just logged on to find something to get this body in motion, and found your vlog. Inertia sums up too well what I feel like physically and mentally. I hope sharing your thoughts helped you, because it gave me something to ponder. Now to use an external force (car) to get to the gym!
