Treat each day as a gift

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Well today was a sad day. At work we have a scanner and it came across that a truck had hit a tree not too far away. Well as the morning progressed we started to get bits and pieces of info and later found out that the poor gentleman passed away.

The reason I'm writing this is, we never know what's going to happen to us so we need to look at every single day as a gift. The poor guy didn't get up this morning and know it was his last day. He probably showered, shaved, ate breakfast, his normal routine and then just like that, it's over. Never coming home....

I'm not trying to depress anyone here... my point is this... everyday we get up and make plans for the day. For example, we go to work and think about what we're going to do after work or what we want to have for dinner...always planning ahead. There are no guarantees that any of that will happen so we need to realize how precious every day, every moment, is to us. We spend so much time worrying about how much we weigh or what size we wear or what we look like but in the grander scheme of things, that means nothing when you think that we're all just blessed to have one more day to do the things we want to do!

So take a minute today, look around you, and be thankful for every bit of it. Tell the people you care about that you love them. Hug them. Cuz you never know when it'll all be over. As the blog title says... treat each day as a gift!!

I'm telling each and every one of my wonderful spark friends how much you all mean to me and how important you have become. You are the reason that I'm getting thinner and healthier so that, God willing, I'll have many more days to enjoy!!!

Hugs to all of you!!!!!

You are absolutely right. In 2000 I had open heart surgery and they said they thought they bought me 5 years - on the outside. It is now 2010 and I am still here but I can feel myself going downhill faster than expected and it won't be my heart that gets me. But that's OK with me. I know where I'm going when this life is over and I can't wait to see my Jesus's face. And I won't apologize for sounding religious.

That is so sad. You are right. . . . we should cherish every moment. It's so easy to get caught up in the "hustle and bustle" of our busy lives - but we need to pause and enjoy the gifts that have been bestowed upon us. You are one of my gifts. . . . .so thank you for your friendship and your love and support. Thanks too for sharing this blog. . . .it's nice to be reminded how lucky we really are!
