Sad to know a friend is suffering, the end is near

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

I am having a sad night. I just learned that my very good friend of 10 years, Merle Beth Meisner, is really suffering with her ALS. Its progressing much faster and they cannot seem to relieve the pain and get her comfortable. Her sister believes she will not be with us much longer. I am so very sad to be losing such a wonderful friend. I met Merle Beth on my first day with BP in Baltimore over 10 years ago. We were fast friends and stayed friends as we relocated to Atlanta and later to Chicago. I am so lucky to have made such a wonderful friend on my first day of work at a new company, and I will cherish every memory of our time spent together both in the office and away from work, enjoying our dogs and our coffee, seeing new movie releases together and then eating Pizza at CPK afterwards. Shopping for house stuff after every move. I will miss her dearly when she is gone, and I pray that her pain and suffering is eased soon. This disease is so terrible and hurtful to both the patient and the family that watches it take her away from them, and I promise to continue to support the efforts of the ALS organization in Merle's honor at every opportunity.

I love you Merle and I will always be grateful to have had you in my life. May you find peace and a better rest soon.

So sorry that she, and you, are going through this. I hope that her suffering comes to an end soon... however painful it will be for all of you left behind. I'll be thinking about you.

I am sorry to hear that you are losing a friend you have known for 10 years! That is a horrible disease! You can have faith in knowing that if she knows the Lord she will be in a much better place! I know that doesn't give us comfort here in earth because we will miss her and want her around, but just remember all the good times and keep those memories close to your heart! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am so sorry this is happening. Cherish everything you've shared with her, I do believe she will take it all with her. Be strong is what we hear alot but you know what, I don't think we should have to. We all need to feel, and sometimes a little weakness is healing. Let it all out, it's healthier. Tell your friend she is loved. emoticon
