Today was my annual check-up with my physician, normally something I kind of dread.
Last year after looking at the results of my bloodwork and checking my blood pressure, my doc hooked me up to an EKG machine before she would let me leave the office.
Today was different, she was happy, laughing, and amazed at my good health.
This is what the numbers looked like;
weight 2009 181 2010 151
glucose 114 93 last year I was pre-diabetic, this year she said I'm fine
Tryglycerides 359 108 I also took a med for the past 12 months to help with this
Cholesterol 203 154
LDL Chol 98 95
HDL 34 38 this is a little low
Waist 42 36
My blood pressure was back where it should be. My profile was of a normal, healthy person who still has to watch the cholesterol and lose 20 lbs.
So I know what I need to do. Keep on keeping on. I think the next step in my diet adjustment is going to be adding more meatless meals to my week. And I need to read up on raising my good cholesterol. I am going to continue restricting sugar (especially sugar and white bread) both for the caloric reasons but also because both of those foods stir up my cravings and my joints ache after a sugar party. I'm adding core exercises to my strength (weight training for my shoulders. Not walking as much but walking more intervals.
And I am going to keep moving. I'm convinced the more I sit the more I spread, the less I sit, the leaner I become!
