Some Things are Harder Than You Think! Reality Check.

Today I tried Yoga for the first time. I entered the class with no clue of what to do and I asked somebody what equipment I should pick up. She said to pick up a mat, 2 foam blocks, a pilates ball, and a blanket.

O.K. Ready! The blanket is incase I need more cushion for my knees when kneeling. No nap!

We start the class. Holy Crap! I thought Yoga was relaxing, meaning easy. We did no chanting, but the class had us holding difficult poses: planks, warrior, downward dog. Much of was done on one leg.

We started a pose. THEN, CRASH!

Now, I know my balance isn't very good due to the effects of the stroke i had years ago. But I didn't expect to topple over to the floor and draw some gasps. The others were very concerned, inquiring if I was hurt. (I wasn't) Just embarrassed.

Next I will try another variety of Yoga that is offered and see what transpired in another class. This class was called "Hatha Yoga".

There is Vinyasa, Vinyasa Flow, Kripalau, Restorative Yoga, and Senior Chair Yoga. I don't know if I spelled these right. Maybe I will continue with this class, or find another that suits me better.

I know very little about Yoga....I am sure I too, would have felt embarrassed. The two latter ones you mentioned sound more my speed!!

I go to the YMCA and do the water aerobics, as the buoyancy of the water causes the shock to be removed from the joints. I have an old war injury...)))SMILES(((my hip and back must be catered to somewhat...Keep looking you will find what works for you!!
